TWESB: First Egg Bank to Integrate Fairtility’s OQ AI Platform

November 26, 2025

The World Egg and Sperm Bank (TWESB), under the scientific leadership of Dr. Klaus Wiemer, is proud to be the first egg bank to integrate Fairtility’s OQ AI technology into its daily practice.

For the past year, this platform has allowed our team to objectively evaluate the quality of each oocyte (egg) before vitrification. This marks an important step forward in how we understand donor eggs, make decisions, and support better outcomes for families worldwide. Guided by Dr. Wiemer, we view OQ as a meaningful tool that strengthens our evidence-based approach to donor egg banking.

What Is Fairtility’s OQ?

Fairtility’s OQ is an AI-powered platform that analyzes images of oocytes at a level of detail beyond what the human eye can consistently capture. Rather than relying only on subjective visual impressions, OQ uses advanced algorithms trained on large datasets to provide a more consistent, objective assessment of egg quality before freezing.

OQ does not replace the expertise of our embryologists; it adds an additional layer of insight that supports their clinical judgment.

Why Objective Egg Assessment Matters

Traditional egg quality assessment is largely based on visual grading and clinical experience. While invaluable, this approach can be subjective, difficult to standardize across labs, and limited in detecting subtle patterns.

By integrating OQ, TWESB can apply more consistent criteria, build a larger data-based understanding of which features correlate with outcomes, and support more evidence-based decisions around egg usage, storage, and allocation.

What This Means for Donors, Recipients, and Clinics

For donors, recipients, and clinics, OQ helps us continually enhance our practices and elevate the standard of care. Objective insights support how we manage donor oocytes and contribute to more consistent quality for the families and clinics we serve.

Led by Scientific Expertise and Looking Ahead

The integration of OQ into TWESB’s workflow was initiated by Dr. Klaus Wiemer, our Scientific Director, whose vision drives our commitment to optimizing outcomes and evidence-based performance.

As reproductive medicine becomes increasingly data-informed and AI-enabled, integrating OQ is one more step in TWESB’s mission to combine compassionate care with leading-edge science for every egg, every donor, and every family we support.
