Will Donating My Eggs Affect My Ability To Get Pregnant In The Future?

Will Egg Donation Affect Future Pregnancy or Fertility?

No, your future fertility is not affected by egg donation. Many of our donors go on to have healthy children of their own following their egg donation.

Additionally, the idea that egg donors will run out of eggs is a common misconception, and there are no conclusive studies showing that women who have donated their eggs are at an increased risk for fertility issues. Every month, multiple eggs mature inside the ovarian follicles. However, only one egg is released for ovulation. The eggs that are retrieved during the donation cycle are some of those that would have been reabsorbed back into the body on their own to make way for the next group of eggs the following month. Women lose hundreds of eggs per month during their natural menstrual cycle. The World Egg Bank rescues some of these eggs for your donation. We don’t retrieve any more eggs than what the body would naturally produce for that cycle. To learn more about what to expect as an egg donor, please click here!
